TRADE: Wild Acquire Gustav Nyquist From Predators

The Minnesota Wild have acquired forward Gustav Nyquist from the Nashville Predators in exchange for a 2026 second-round pick. In addition, the Predators will be retaining 50% of Nyquist's salary.

The Wild were mentioned as one of the frontrunners by NHL insider Elliotte Friedman earlier on Saturday, and now they have officially gotten their guy. Nyquist will now provide the Wild with another skilled forward in their middle six and option for their power play.

Nyquist is a player the Wild know well, as he spent the final portion of the 2022-23 season with the Central Division club after they acquired him from the Columbus Blue Jackets. In three regular-season games during his first stint with the Wild, he had one goal, five points, and a plus-2 rating. He also recorded five assists in six playoff games for Minnesota that year.

Nyquist played in 57 games this season with the Predators, where he had nine goals, 21 points, and a minus-20 rating. It has been a tough year for the veteran forward, but he has shown throughout his career that he can make a major offensive impact when playing at his best. Just last season with Nashville, he had 23 goals and 75 points in 81 games.

We will now need to wait and see how much of an impact Nyquist makes during his second stint with the Wild from here.
