Trade Watch: 3 Rangers Who Could Be Traded Next As 'Selling' Continues

The New York Rangers don't want to lose players for nothing this summer so the moves have continued from GM Chris Drury. On Saturday, Drury shipped out defenseman Ryan Lindgren and his $4.5 million contract, along with veteran forward Jimmy Vesey to the Colorado Avalanche.

Here's who could be next as Drury's expected to remain active ahead of the trade deadline on Friday:

Reilly Smith

Smith, like Lindgren and Vesey is a pending unrestricted free agent earning $3.75 million AAV this season. He owns a 8-team no-trade clause and on the year, has recorded 10 goals and 29 points in 58 games. He's averaging 15:35 of ice-time per game, and can play both sides of special teams. Expect Smith to move to a contender and slide into a third-line role.

Chris Kreider

Kreider has been linked to trade rumors all season and is a bit of an 'off the board' candidate as he does have two seasons left on his deal at $6.5 million AAV. Kreider owns a 15-team no-trade clause and has some say in his future, which could include a move to a team like the Los Angeles Kings or Dallas Stars. Kreider has scored 17 goals and added just four assists for 21 points in 48 games this season.

Alexis Lafreniere

This would be a 'pure hockey trade' as the former top pick is still currently on his bridge deal at $2.32 million AAV, with his lucrative $7.45 million AAV contract kicking in next season and running until the 2031-32 season. Lafreniere doesn't have trade protection and there's been some rumblings the Montreal Canadiens are interested, along with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Lafreniere has also been linked to the Anaheim Ducks in a move that could include Trevor Zegras.
