VIDEO: In Bruins' War Room, Watch The Moment They Traded Brad Marchand

So what does it look like and sound like in the front offices of a team when they trade an iconic member of the franchise? Video has emerged of the Boston Bruins' war room on trade deadline day, at the very moment they traded captain Brad Marchand to the Florida Panthers. GM Don Sweeney walks in with the announcement to his staff:

Aside from that one little 'Jesus' comment, the silence in that room was deafening as Sweeney strolls in, nine minutes before the 3pm Eastern deadline, and announces:

"Florida just traded for March. It's a second-round pick '27, turns into a first-round pick if they get through two rounds and he plays 50% of the games. Retention 50%."

Then Sweeney goes quiet, bows his head and turns his palm up, as if to indicate, 'Well, there it is'.

Nothing but silence in the room for several seconds after that.

It's a shocking moment to witness—the turning point of a franchise after 16 years with a player who has meant as much as anyone to that team.

For Marchand's part, he was choked up, near tears in his first public comments about the trade a few days later, saying he had offered Sweeney a compromise on contract talks in order to stay, but it was rebuffed.

Marchand, still on the sidelines and yet to play a game for the Panthers, has 21 goals, his 12th consecutive season passing the 20-goal mark.

In 16 seasons with Boston, he recorded 422 goals with 976 points in 1,090 games, with an active NHL player-leading plus/minus rating of +284.
