3 Offseason Targets For Dallas Stars

The Dallas Stars may look a lot different next season as the list of free agents includes Mikael Granlund, Jamie Benn, Matt Duchene, Evgenii Dadonov, Cody Ceci, Colin Blackwell, and Brendan Smith. Most of those players are playing significant roles on the team right now, and while I do expect at least one to return, the team may have to target some players in the offseason to fill spots, even if it's depth.

Ryan Donato

Wyatt Johnston should be the second line center next season with Duchene requiring a lot to bring back since he's put up huge numbers for being under contract for only $3 million AAV. Mavrik Bourque can step into the third line center role that he's played this season, but Ryan Donato is also a great player that would be able to be moved up and down and across every line. He won't be overly expensive, but the Stars would have the means to convince him to leave Chicago if it makes it that far. Donato can score and has been overlooked all of his career.

Jack Roslovic

Jack Roslovic is also a solid middle-6 or third line player that the Stars can bring in to recoup some lost assets in the offseason. The Carolina Hurricanes may not have the space to bring him back in a role that he wants and he would be able to play with some talented players in Dallas as well. Like Donato, Roslovic is a bit of a cheaper option that has proven in multiple seasons he can outperform his contract and produce.

Ivan Provorov

While the need on defense is more on the right side and Miro Heiskanen is already playing his off side, Ivan Provorov is also very capable of doing so. I expect Ceci to be gone in free agency, Nils Lundkvist still isn't trusted and may just need a new place to play, and Matt Dumba isn't in the playoff lineup with a year left on his deal. Provorov can stay healthy and be a difference maker all over the ice. For a contender to add someone like this would be a great move.
