3 Offseason Targets For Minnesota Wild
The Minnesota Wild have surprised many this postseason already going up 2-1 in the series against the Vegas Golden Knights. They have a sneaky team that is only going to get better with all the money they have available this offseason. The goaltending is set for next season and there are so many options on defense, that the real thing that can be bolstered is the forward group.
Brock Boeser
The target that has been most heavily linked to the Wild is Brock Boeser. When it was revealed he is heading to free agency, that made things even more clear. The Wild are likely going to offer more than what the Vancouver Canucks were and it seems like the ideal place for Boeser to play for the next seven years. He wouldn't have the pressure as the top winger and he would have a good centerman to play with regardless. The Wild could use the scoring that he has brought throughout his entire career, even if this season was a bit of a down one since Vancouver was a disaster.
Mitch Marner
Why not swing for the fences if Mitch Marner is available? Sure, the Wild have Kirill Kaprizov and Matt Boldy, but there is more than enough cap space with a number of players on great deals. Having all three would make the top-6 for the Wild that much more dangerous since there would be multiple 100 point scorers and players who can playmake and score. Marner is at the right age where it would give Minnesota a great window to win as well.
Nikolaj Ehlers
The third high level winger is Nikolaj Ehlers. I wouldn't say the Wild could guarantee him top line minutes like a number of other teams looking for a player like him, but he would be on a success-bound team, get a nice payday, and play with some skilled players. Ehlers put up 24 goals and 63 points in 69 games this season and is very fast. He is also at a good age where he shouldn't slow down for a number of years.
