3 Offseason Targets For New Jersey Devils

Taylor Hall, Carolina Hurricanes forward
The New Jersey Devils didn't go into the playoffs this season fully healthy and they got even more banged up very early on. Other than the very start of the season, the depth up front at forward hasn't been good and has held this team back. Especially when a player like Jack Hughes goes out, players need to step up and it hasn't happened from lower in the lineup. That will be the big need this summer.

Kyle Palmieri

Kyle Palmieri should still be considered a top-6 winger, but would better fit the second line. He isn't driving play or producing at a crazy rate, but he can score and is adding offense and leadership. Both Ondrej Palat and Erik Haula would better suit the third line and are only as high in the lineup as they are because of injuries and spreading out the scoring for now. Palmieri scored 24 goals and recorded 48 points this season on a low offense New York Islanders team.

Taylor Hall

Taylor Hall really showed up after going to a better situation than the one with the Chicago Blackhawks. He has played great from around the trade deadline and on for the Carolina Hurricanes and it remains to be seen whether they are going to keep him around or make a change. The Devils should look into bringing back another former player as Hall has shown he can stay healthy and perform at a high level still. He is fast and determined and the speed would work great in the Devils lineup. The veteran had eight goals and 16 points in his last 19 games played during the regular season.

Jack Roslovic

I don't expect the Devils to bring in all three of these free agents, but it also wouldn't surprise me if they really dove into a change and bolstered their biggest need. Jack Roslovic would be the third player who could make a difference in the middle or bottom of the lineup as he plays both center and the wing and can score. At times, he can change a game. This season he scored 22 goals and the Devils desperately need more production from lower in their lineup.
