3 Offseason Targets For New York Rangers

The season for the New York Rangers was a disaster for the most part. The team went from winning the Presidents' Trophy to missing the playoffs, but there were a number of moves made during the season as well. This isn't a team that is going to roll over with the talent they have, so expect the holes to be filled in the offseason

Vladislav Gavrikov

The Rangers need a top-4 left defenseman, especially after Ryan Lindgren was traded this season. To help keep pucks out of their net, someone like Vladislav Gavrikov would be a great target. He is known for being a top shutdown defenseman and is part of the great defensive play the LA Kings have had this season. Igor Shesterkin definitely needs more help in front of him and Adam Fox needs a partner for the top pairing.

Taylor Hall

The Rangers are very likely going to get rid of Chris Kreider and need players that can contribute more. Taylor Hall has actually scored four fewer goals, but 11 more points this season than Kreider, but mostly on a Chicago Blackhawks team that couldn't score. As seen since being traded to the Carolina Hurricanes, Hall still has a lot of game left and is contributing a lot offensively. He is 33 years old, so he's not in his prime, but he stayed healthy this season and is very fast. He could be a solid pickup for the middle-6 for the Rangers this offseason for a smaller commitment.

Ivan Provorov

Back to the defense, Ivan Provorov is also a top target the Rangers should consider. He can play both sides of the ice, even though it wouldn't be necessary in New York. He is unlikely to stick with the Columbus Blue Jackets because of the talent they have on the back-end. Provorov has proven for years he is capable of playing top-4 minutes and has been a highly talented offensive player earlier in his career. Gavrikov may not choose the Rangers or may re-sign before that. It's good to have options as this team really needs that addition on the back-end.
