3 Offseason Targets For Philadelphia Flyers
The Philadelphia Flyers should still be rebuilding next season, so I don't expect them to really push hard in targeting a player like Mitch Marner even though every team may take a look. Their goalie situation isn't great, but there's options. They will likely see who can step up next season and then address it next summer. As for the rest, it isn't a bad idea to grab a player or two right now to help turn things around.
Sam Bennett
The biggest need right now is centermen. Bennett is the top option at the best age amongst centers that can make a difference. He has experience and would fit what Philadelphia Flyers hockey has been. The Flyers are one team that should be inclined to offer a seven-year deal to Bennett as they could use him to fill a hole right now and be a piece for the future when the team gets better and in contention. He would complement Sean Couturier in the top-6 well and give Noah Cates some room to grow and less responsibility.
Mikael Granlund
With the skilled wingers the Flyers have that can score, targeting a playmaking center would be a great idea. I can't see a center that will be available that fits that description better than Mikael Granlund. He may be 33 years old, but has proven these past two seasons that he is at the top of his game and can take on a lot of responsibility. Pair him with Matvei Michkov or Tyson Foerster or Travis Konecny and it will help any of them reach 30 goals next season.
Jack Roslovic
Jack Roslovic isn't at the same level as Bennett or Granlund, but neither may choose Philly. Roslovic popped off for over 20 goals this season and has been a great player for stretches in his career. I wouldn't expect him to be a full time second line center, but he is a solid middle-6 option that can play down the middle and give the Flyers another option to use. He wouldn't propel the team into contention, but is a good player that will be looking for a little bigger role if the Carolina Hurricanes continue to look deep up front.
