3 Offseason Targets For Utah Hockey Club
The Utah Hockey Club is right on the cusp and are hoping that the team will be able to get into the playoffs next season. I think they will be in the hunt even later in the season at the very least, especially if health permits and the right moves are made. There are some additions that need to be made to jump up a few spots in the standings.
Kyle Palmieri
Kyle Palmieri may very well be a free agent and won't have a lack of suitors. The veteran can score, indicated by his 24 goals this season. He also posted 48 points on the low scoring New York Islanders. He finished tied in 9th for goals among potential free agents and Utah really needs a more stable winger for the middle-6. Palmieri would fit in great here taking over a spot from Matias Maccelli and pushing Josh Doan for time.
Yanni Gourde
A veteran added to the mix is just what the Utah Hockey Club needs to add up front. If they can't get Palmieri, Yanni Gourde is also a good option. He isn't as good at scoring goals, but can produce at a decent rate and brings his team into the fight. Utah already has a lot of fight and they would be even tougher to play against on a nightly basis. He finished with seven goals and 31 points in 57 games and is a force in the playoffs.
Dan Vladar
With how well Karel Vejmelka played, he earned himself a contract extension. He played a ton of games this season and even more down the stretch when Utah was still in the hunt for a playoff spot. Connor Ingram struggled and didn't play much, so the team could keep him for his final year in hopes that he bounces back, bring in another goalie to be a safety net, or just move on from Ingram and bring in someone that will be given the backup role. Two of the options involve bringing in someone like Dan Vladar. He won't be overly expensive and put up better numbers than Ingram this season as Calgary's backup.
