Breaking: Capitals Sign Nic Dowd To Multi-Year Extension
The Washington Capitals have re-signed their key shutdown center, who has also had a career year on the scoresheet, agreeing to a two-year extension with center Nic Dowd.

The Washington Capitals have re-signed center Nic Dowd to a two-year, $6 million contract extension. Dowd’s contract will carry an average annual value of $3 million.#ALLCAPS | @Shift4
It's a two-year, $6 million contract extension with a $3 million AAV.
Dowd, 34, has recorded a career-high 14 goals and 27 points in 81 games this season. The 6'1", 193-pounder has also handed out 127 hits while setting another career-best with 81 blocked shots.
He's coming off a three-year, $1.3M AAV deal, and was a pending UFA.
It's Dowd's seventh year with Washington. Since his arrival in the 2018-19 season, he's tops among all Capitals in faceoffs won, and second in plus/minus rating (+47). In 450 total games with the team (going into the season finale), he has 75 goals and 75 assists for 150 points, along with 843 hits and 370 blocked shots.
