Neely emphasized that while the Bruins made huge moves at the trade deadline—dealing captain Brad Marchand, Brandon Carlo, Charlie Coyle, and Trent Frederic—the path forward will be more of a retool than a full-scale rebuild.
“I don’t think we need to really strip this down,” he said. “Hopefully we can replace some of those pieces and get us back to where we want to be, which is competing for Stanley Cups.”
The Bruins are open to using newly acquired assets in multiple ways, whether through development or in trade packages to bring in immediate help.

Fan frustration has been loud in Boston, but Neely isn’t shying away from the pressure. He acknowledged the passionate fan base and the criticism that comes with it, adding, “You can play bad hockey, but you can work hard and put the effort in.”
Neely and GM Don Sweeney appear prepared to explore all avenues this offseason, including moving picks and reshaping the roster, as they try to return the Bruins to contention. “Everything’s going to be on the table,” Neely reiterated.
