Flyers Rumors: How Philadelphia Can Address Their Goaltending Woes This Offseason
The Flyers posted a league-worst .879 save percentage and ranked 28th in goals-against average at 3.44. None of their three goaltenders—Samuel Ersson, Ivan Fedotov, or Aleksei Kolosov—managed to stand out, with all three sitting near the bottom in save percentage among the league’s 65 qualified goalies.
“The Flyers simply didn’t get enough saves,” Kurz wrote, noting how their inconsistent play in net contributed directly to their late-season collapse.

Despite the poor numbers, the Flyers are expected to keep Ersson as their likely starter, given his longer stretches of competent play throughout the season.
Fedotov could be slotted into the No. 3 role, while Kolosov’s future is unclear amid rumors he may return to Belarus. With little trust in any one goalie to carry the load, general manager Daniel Brière faces a tough offseason.
The free agent market doesn’t offer many reliable options, either—Kurz names veterans Jake Allen and Frederik Andersen as possibilities, but both come with concerns. Allen might stay with New Jersey, and Andersen has a lengthy injury history.

Given the lack of attractive choices in free agency, the Flyers may need to explore the trade market if they want to upgrade in net.
That could involve targeting a younger goalie with upside or trying to find a dependable veteran on a short-term deal. With cap space available and Brière open to change, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Flyers take a bold swing to stabilize their crease.
