Lightning Suffer Sizeable Loss With Bjorkstrand Injury

The Tampa Bay Lightning will be without Oliver Bjorkstrand for the foreseeable future as he is considered week-to-week with a lower-body injury. It was an injury presumably suffered in the team's last game against the Detroit Red Wings.

This is a tough blow for the Lightning who look like a huge threat in the Eastern Conference, even if they do have a tough first round matchup. Bjorkstrand has scored five goals and nine points in 18 games since the team acquired him in a trade along with Yanni Gourde from the Seattle Kraken.

Bjorkstrand has 21 goals and 46 points in 79 games on the season and is a six time 20 goals scorer that is fortunately still under contract for one more season after this one. The hope is that he can get back in the lineup this season for the Lightning, but it won't be in the regular season, but rather the playoffs if the Lightning go on a bit of a run.

They may not absolutely need Bjorkstrand to win the Stanley Cup, but having him in the lineup would make things a lot easier for them.
