NHL Injury News: Stars' Jason Robertson suffers lower-body injury
Timing is everything and right now for the Dallas Stars, it couldn't be worse.
In their regular season finale against the Nashville Predators, the Stars lost forward Jason Robertson to a lower-body injury. Robertson appeared to get hurt after taking a hit from Predators' enforcer Michael McCarron early on in the second period of Wednesday's contest.
Robertson limped off the ice and was then ruled out by the team for the remainder of the game. The Stars have battled through a ton of injury troubles throughout the regular season, and heading into the game against the Preds announced Tyler Seguin would be returning to the ice for the first time in months, and now Robertson's status is up in the air for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
"The purpose of resting people down the stretch was to hopefully avoid injury, and, unfortunately, we didn't do that with the Robertson injury," Dallas head coach Peter DeBoer said postgame, per NHL.com's Mike Heika. "So, tough night."The 25-year-old Robertson appeared in 6:06 of ice-time before leaving the game. He's the teams leading scorer, potting 35 goals and ranking second on the team with 80 points in 81 appearances.
The Stars take on the Colorado Avalanche in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs on Saturday night. A playoff run they'll likely have to start without Robertson in the lineup.
