NHL Injury Update: Kings Tanner Jeannot Out Week-To-Week Against Oilers

The Kings are in fairly good health as they prepare for their first-round series against the Edmonton Oilers, but forward Tanner Jeannot remains sidelined week-to-week, according to Mayor’s Manor

Jeannot suffered an apparent ankle injury in a non-contact incident while positioning himself to block a shot during the March 25th victory over the New York Rangers.

He has not returned to the lineup since and has yet to resume skating, ruling him out for the opening round.

This season, Jeannot recorded seven goals and 13 points in 67 games while making an impact as a physical fourth-line presence. The 6’2", 220-pound winger delivered 211 hits, continuing his reputation as a heavy hitter—averaging 3.7 hits per game over his 294-game NHL career (1,083 total hits).

However, the 27-year-old has not replicated the offensive output of his rookie year (2021-22), when he tallied 24 goals and 41 points.

His playoff production has also been limited, with just three assists and a -9 rating in 16 career postseason appearances. That said, he has made his presence felt physically, racking up 65 hits while averaging 13:04 of ice time.

His return would give the Kings’ bottom-six a hard-hitting, energy-boosting element capable of shifting game momentum.

In Jeannot’s absence, rookie center Samuel Helenius and depth winger Jeff Malott have seen increased roles. Helenius posted seven points and 150 hits in 50 regular-season games, while Malott—who had a strong AHL campaign (51 points in 61 games)—managed just one assist in 12 NHL appearances this year.
