NHL News: Nikita Zadorov Calls Out Boston Bruins' Teammates
The Boston Bruins are the worst team in the Eastern Conference, and things are starting to boil over in bean town. After the B's lost their 10th game in a row, Bruins' defenseman Nikita Zadorov didn't hold back on his teammates.
The towering defenseman called out the team to NHL.com's Sean Farrell, after the Bruins were defeated 4-1 by the Montreal Canadiens: "The other teams are just hungrier than ours. They want to win more, that's the bottom line. We're just not hard on the puck. We're easy to play against."
"I mean everything," Zadorov said when asked what went wrong after the first stanza, per NESN's Gayle Troiani. "We didn't win any battles. Couldn't leave our zone. We got one shot, two shots on net in the last five minutes of the period."
The Bruins have managed to secure one point during the 10-game winless stretch, getting outscored 46-18. After making several trades ahead of the deadline, including moving captain Brad Marchand to the rival Florida Panthers, the writing was on the wall about what was to come in Boston.
Bruins forward Elias Lindholm chimed in on how he felt the team could snap the skid."W e need a 60-minute effort," he said. "We haven't had that in forever, I feel like. Probably the last time we won a game (March 11 agains the Florida Panthers). ... We play one period pretty good, and then we fall apart."“Did you guys appreciate that Jeremy stuck up for Khusnutdinov?”
