NHL News: San Jose Sharks' Logan Couture to Retire

Logan Couture is ready to hang up the skates.

The veteran San Jose Sharks forward is calling it a career on Tuesday. Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff was first to report the news. Couture has been dealing with a slew of injuries the past couple of seasons and the time has come to end the comeback attempts.

Couture hasn't played since Jan.31, 2024 due to a groin injury. The 36-year-old has another two seasons left on his contract at $8 million AAV. The last time he played a full season was in 2022-23, when he dressed in 82 games, recording 27 goals and 67 points.

The groin injury showed it's ugly face after the season, as Couture missed the first 45 games the following season and it's never really been the same. He managed to appear in just six games since.

The Guelph, ON native has enjoyed himself a fine career, appearing in 933 NHL games, all with the Sharks, scoring 323 goals and 701 points. He ranks 5th in franchise history in games played, third in goals, and fourth in total points.

Couture was known for his ability to elevate his game in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. He scored 48 goals and 101 points in 116 career playoff games, which included leading the 2016 playoffs in scoring, and the 2019 postseason in goals.

We wish him nothing but the best in his next chapter.
