NHL Rumors: 3 Anaheim Ducks Contract Extension Candidates

The 2025 NHL Trade Deadline saw several teams make moves, and the league looks far different now. Yet, now that the deadline has passed, we won’t see any more trades until after the season. Although this is the case, we still could see teams sign players to contract extensions. As a result, we here at NHLTR will be going over three contract extension candidates from each team.

In this latest edition of the series, we will be taking a look at the Anaheim Ducks.

Mason McTavish

McTavish is a notable Ducks pending restricted free agent who is due for a significant raise this offseason. The 2021 third-overall pick is a big part of the Ducks' forward group and one of the players they are building their future core around. In 75 games this season, he has set new career highs with 22 goals, 30 assists, 52 points, and 68 hits.

Sam Colangelo

Colangelo is another pending RFA who the Ducks are likely going to extend. The 23-year-old forward prospect has shown promise while on the Ducks' roster this season, posting 10 goals and 12 points in 31 games. He has also thrived in the AHL with the San Diego this season, as he has 19 goals and 35 points in 38 contests.

Brett Leason

Leason could be a player the Ducks aim to keep around beyond this season, too. The 6-foot-5 forward has played in 61 games this season with Anaheim, where he has five goals, 17 points, and 62 hits. Overall, he is a serviceable bottom-six forward, so it would be understandable if the Ducks extended him at a reasonable price.
