NHL Rumors: 3 Detroit Red Wings Offseason Trade Candidates
It was a disappointing 2024-25 season for the Detroit Red Wings. They failed to take that next step and missed the playoffs for the ninth straight season. There is an expectation that they will make changes to their roster because of this, so let's discuss three of their offseason trade candidates now.
Vladimir Tarasenko
The fit between the Red Wings and Tarasenko was just not there this season. Due to this, the veteran forward's name floated around the rumor mill at the deadline, but a deal did not come to fruition. However, it's very likely the Red Wings will be open to dealing him in the summer, and there could be interest because of his past success. In 80 games this season, he had 11 goals and 33 points.
Jonatan Berggren
Berggren is another Red Wings forward who could find a new home this offseason. The 24-year-old winger has been the subject of trade rumors in the past and could use a change of scenery at this point. In 75 games this season, the 2018 second-round pick recorded 12 goals, 24 points, and a minus-13 rating.
Erik Gustafsson
Gustafsson could be a player who the Red Wings look to move on from this summer. The 33-year-old defenseman struggled to find his fit during his first season in Detroit, posting two goals, 16 assists, and a minus-19 rating in 60 games. Teams looking for offense from the point, especially on their power play, could consider taking a shot on him.
