NHL Rumors: 3 Los Angeles Kings Contract Extension Candidates

The 2025 NHL Trade Deadline saw several teams make moves, and the league looks far different now. Yet, now that the deadline has passed, we won’t see any more trades until after the season. Although this is the case, we still could see teams sign players to contract extensions. As a result, we here at NHLTR will be going over three contract extension candidates from each team.

In this latest edition of the series, we will be focusing on the Los Angeles Kings.

Vladislav Gavrikov

Gavrikov is a clear extension candidate for the Kings. Given his importance on their blueline, there is no question that the Kings would love to keep the pending unrestricted free agent around beyond this season. However, when noting that he is plays on their top pairing and penalty kill, the Kings will need to offer him a pretty large deal to keep him around.

Alex Laferriere

Laferriere is a player who the Kings will surely look to extend. The 23-year-old is in the middle of a breakout year, setting new career highs with 17 goals, 21 assists, and 38 points. With numbers like these, the pending restricted free agent has given the Kings solid secondary scoring and has become a key part of LA's roster because of it.

Andrei Kuzmenko

Kuzmenko has fit in beautifully since being acquired by the Kings from the Philadelphia Flyers. In 18 games since the trade with the Kings, he has five goals, 19 points, and a plus-8 rating. Overall, he has given the Kings plenty of offense, and they could look to keep the pending UFA around because of it.
