NHL Rumors: 3 Seattle Kraken Contract Extension Candidates
The 2025 NHL Trade Deadline saw several teams make moves, and the league looks far different now. Yet, now that the deadline has passed, we won’t see any more trades until after the season. Although this is the case, we still could see teams sign players to contract extensions. As a result, we here at NHLTR will be going over three contract extension candidates from each team.
In this latest edition of the series, we will be taking a look at the Seattle Kraken.
Kaapo Kakko
Back in December, the Kraken acquired Kakko from the New York Rangers, and it's a move they must be ecstatic about. The 24-year-old winger has been a great fit with the Kraken, posting 10 goals and 27 points in his first 43 games. With this, the Kraken will surely be looking to lock up the pending restricted free agent.
Ryker Evans
Evans has taken a big step forward in his development this season with the Kraken, setting new career highs with five goals, 20 assists, and 25 points in 68 games. He is a big part of the Kraken's future, so the pending restricted free agent is a young blueliner they should be aiming to keep around for a while.
Michael Eyssimont
The Kraken acquired Eyssimont from the Tampa Bay Lightning at the deadline, and he has been solid early on for them. In 14 games, the gritty forward has three goals, five points, 21 hits, and a plus-3 rating. Given how well he has fit into the Kraken's system, it would be understandable if they extended the pending unrestricted free agent instead of letting him walk.
