NHL Rumors: 3 St. Louis Blues Contract Extension Candidates

The 2025 NHL Trade Deadline saw several teams make moves, and the league looks far different now. Yet, now that the deadline has passed, we won’t see any more trades until after the season. Although this is the case, we still could see teams sign players to contract extensions. As a result, we here at NHLTR will be going over three contract extension candidates from each team.

In this latest edition of the series, let's take a look at the St. Louis Blues.

Joel Hofer

Hofer is a pending restricted free agent who the Blues should be looking to keep around. The 24-year-old is having a solid season as the Blues' backup goalie, posting a 16-8-3 record, a .904 save percentage, and a 2.64 goals-against average. With numbers like these, the 2018 fourth-round pick is due for a raise from his current $775,000 cap hit.

Ryan Suter

Suter has expressed the desire to play another season with the Blues, and the Central Division club could consider keeping him around for depth. The 40-year-old defenseman has been solid for the Blues this season, recording two goals, 15 points, and a plus-7 rating in 81 games. If he is willing to stick around at a cheap price, it would be understandable if the Blues extended him.

Radek Faksa

Faksa is another pending UFA who the Blues could consider extending if he is willing to take a paycut from his current $3.25 million cap hit. Faksa has worked well in a bottom six role and on their penalty kill for the Blues, so he could be an extension candidate to watch this summer.
