NHL Rumors: 3 Utah Hockey Club Extension Candidates

The 2025 NHL Trade Deadline saw several teams make moves, and the league looks far different now. Yet, now that the deadline has passed, we won’t see any more trades until after the season. Although this is the case, we still could see teams sign players to contract extensions. As a result, we here at NHLTR will be going over three contract extension candidates from each team.

In this latest edition of the series, we will be focusing on the Utah Hockey Club.

Jack McBain

McBain is a player who Utah should certainly be looking to extend. The 25-year-old forward is a solid part of Utah's top nine and has been given time on both their power play and penalty kill this season. He has impressed in the process, setting new career highs with 13 goals, 27 points, and 287 hits in 80 games. With the secondary offensive production and grit he provides, he is somebody Utah should keep around.

Nick Bjugstad

Bjugstad is a pending unrestricted free agent who Utah could look to extend. The veteran forward is a key part of Utah's bottom six, so they could be interested in extending him at a cheap price. In 64 games this season with Utah, he has seven goals, 18 points, and 102 hits.

Nick DeSimone

DeSimone has been a solid depth defenseman for Utah, so it would be understandable if they extended him. He has appeared in 19 games this season with the club, where he has one goal, six points, 13 hits and a plus-4 rating.
