NHL Rumors: Bruins Considering Massive David Pastrnak Trade to Hurricanes

A major trade rumor is sweeping through the NHL, sparking intense debate among fans and analysts—David Pastrnak could be headed to the Carolina Hurricanes in a blockbuster mock trade scenario.

With the Boston Bruins finishing last in the Atlantic Division, the franchise faces a pivotal decision: rebuild or retool?

At 29 years old, Pastrnak remains one of the league’s most lethal scorers, coming off a 43-goal, 106-point season in 2024–25. He’s signed for three more years at an $11.25 million cap hit, making him the kind of elite talent teams rarely trade.

But if Boston commits to a full rebuild, moving him now could bring back a franchise-altering haul.

Enter the Hurricanes—a contender with Stanley Cup ambitions and newfound cap flexibility after their rental experiment with Mikko Rantanen fell through.

After acquiring Rantanen at the 2025 deadline, only to flip him to Dallas when he refused to re-sign, Carolina is now looking for a long-term star forward. Pastrnak fits perfectly.

Mock Trade Proposal: Pastrnak to Carolina

Hurricanes receive:

  • David Pastrnak
  • 2025 4th-round pick (via PHI)

Bruins receive:

  • Logan Stankoven
  • Andrei Svechnikov
  • Alexander Nikishin
  • 2026 1st-round pick

This deal would be a franchise-shaking move. Carolina gives up two dynamic forwards - Svechnikov and Stankoven - and a premier defensive prospect - Nikishin, but lands a generational scorer in Pastrnak.

For Boston, it’s a long-term play—sacrificing their superstar for a package that could accelerate a rebuild.

Bottom line? If Pastrnak hits the market, Carolina should pounce. Players of his caliber are rare, and the Hurricanes are in win-now mode.

For the Bruins, it’s a high-risk, high-reward gamble—but one that could redefine their future.
