NHL Trade Rumors: 3 Buffalo Sabres Offseason Trade Candidates

The Buffalo Sabres have one game left in their 2024-25 regular season, in a year that's once again been a huge disappointment in Buffalo. The team can't seem to put together consistent productive hockey, and now there's been some rumblings that GM Kevyn Adams could be on thin ice, but one things for sure, there's going to be changes coming for the Sabres.

Here's three trade candidates Buffalo could end up moving this summer:

Alex Tuch

The veteran forward has one season left on his contract at $4.75 million AAV, and owns a five-team no-trade clause. Tuch was a hot topic before this season's trade deadline, with the Tampa Bay Lightning making several offers to try and land the Sabres' forward. Tuch's scored 35 goals and 65 points in 81 games this season and has been one of their only bright spots throughout the year. At 28 years old, it''s going to be interesting to see if he wants to stick around Buffalo and sign an extension this summer, or get moved to a team with a chance at winning in the playoffs.

Bowen Byram

Byram's name was out there before March's trade deadline, with the Vancouver Canucks and Pittsburgh Penguins making major pitches to try and land the mobile defenceman. Byram, 23, is a pending restricted free agent and considering the Sabres have a bunch of money wrapped up to their blueline already, it's going to be interesting to see if they end up moving Byram for some more fire power up front. Byram has posted 38 points in 81 games this season.

Owen Power

Power was another Sabres' blueliner who had been involved in trade talks this season, but stayed put in Buffalo. Yes, he's signed to a long-term deal with the club, but the interesting part is they didn't give him any trade protection on his deal. The former #1 pick has recorded 40 points in 79 games this season, and is under contract at $8.35 million AAV through the 2030-31 season. This summer could come down to moving one of Byram or Power, but certainly not both.
