NHL Trade Rumors: 3 Potential Trade Destinations For Penguins' Rickard Rakell
Pittsburgh Penguins forward Rickard Rakell generated plenty of buzz in the rumor mill leading up to the 2025 NHL trade deadline. In the end, the Penguins did not move him, but teams are expected to pursue him yet again once the offseason is here.
With his trade value at its highest, the struggling Penguins very well could look to take advantage of that. Thus, let's go over three potential landing spots for Rakell this summer now.
Los Angeles Kings
The Kings were linked to Rakell leading up to the deadline, and it would be understandable if this carried over to the summer. They still need an impactful top-six right-shot winger, and Rakell would give them just that. When looking at their lineup, Rakell could slot perfectly on a line with Quinton Byfield and Kevin Fiala next season.
Detroit Red Wings
The Red Wings are likely going to be on the hunt for a top-six forward this offseason. They certainly could use another impactful winger, and Rakell would give them just that. He also could be a good fit for a team on the rise like Detroit, as he has three more years left on his deal after this one.
Columbus Blue Jackets
The Blue Jackets could be another team to watch when it comes to Rakell. They took a step forward this season and could be aggressive buyers during this upcoming offseason because of it. Bringing in Rakell would provide their top six with a nice boost, and the veteran forward would be another good mentor for their younger players to have around.
