NHL Trade Rumors: Flyers Ready To Deal From Wealth Of Draft Picks For 'NHL-Ready Players'

The Philadelphia Flyers are entering a huge phase of their rebuild and are willing to accelerate the process by flipping some of their draft capital for young, NHL-ready players.

General manager Daniel Briere confirmed that the team is open to trading at least one of their three first-round picks — including selections currently projected at 23rd and 25th overall — along with some of their four second-rounders.

“We’re going to explore everything we can,” Briere told The Athletic. “If we have a chance to make our team better quicker, we’ll use those picks.”

Briere emphasized that the focus isn’t just on stockpiling prospects, but on acquiring pieces who can make an impact sooner rather than later.

“It might be to move up in the draft. It might be to acquire a player or something that we need,” he said. The Flyers’ recent acquisition of 21-year-old Nikita Grebenkin from Toronto is an example of that shift, aiming to add more mature players who are closer to contributing.

With their own first-rounder (currently 4th overall) likely off the table, the Flyers are positioning themselves to use their additional assets to push the rebuild into its next phase — and potentially contend sooner than expected.
