Panthers Add Depth With SHL Standout Anton Lundmark
The Florida Panthers have made a new addition to their roster, signing 24-year-old Swedish winger Anton Lundmark to a one-year, entry-level contract for the 2025-26 season. The financial details remain under wraps, but the move brings an intriguing European talent into the mix.
Lundmark, who turns 24 later this month, has spent his entire career in Sweden, climbing the ranks from the third-tier HockeyEttan to the SHL, where he made his debut last season with Timrå IK.
In his first SHL campaign, the 6’4” forward tallied 5 goals and 9 points in 49 games—while impressively staying out of the penalty box entirely.
Though his contract with Timrå runs through next season, an NHL out-clause allows him to join the Panthers. Florida could also choose to loan him back to Sweden if he struggles to crack the NHL lineup or needs more development time in the AHL with Charlotte.
The big question? Whether Lundmark can translate his game to North America. While his size and hockey IQ are assets, his limited offensive production in Sweden raises doubts about his ability to make an immediate impact.
This fall, Lundmark will get his chance to show he belongs. If he can exceed expectations, he could become a call-up option for Florida. If not, he’ll remain an RFA in 2026, leaving the Panthers to reassess his future.
One thing’s for sure—it’s a low-risk, high-reward move worth watching.
