Pittsburgh Penguins Have Target Players To Trade Draft Picks For
The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired a lot of high draft picks for the upcoming drafts, but seeing as the team still has the core that could compete for a little longer, the team wants to use some of the draft picks to acquire talent that can help out the team now.
This means trading some of the draft picks. The Penguins are willing to trade picks for young NHL-ready players in the hopes that the team can contend again as soon as next season. Pittsburgh has more than enough to buy themselves some good talent with four first-round picks, six second-round picks, and eight third-round picks over the next three drafts.
The Penguins have some promising young players already like Philip Tomasino, Ville Koivunen, Rutger McGroarty, Owen Pickering, and a handful more, but at the same time, will have to find ways to clear up roster spots. I'd expect players like Kevin Hayes and Bokondji Imama gone ahead of next season.
The Penguins haven't had the best drafting and developing over the past number of years, and some teams experience that for long periods of time. Since that is the case, they have done very well acquiring young talent outside of the draft and all of those draft picks the team currently holds won't have much impact on the team's success for a few years at the least.
There are teams with young players that are looking for a change in scenery all the time. Kaapo Kakko thriving on the Seattle Kraken is one of the best recent examples. While the Penguins could surely use some of their picks to acquire talent mid-season again, the offseason is where the next biggest push is going to be.
