Seattle Kraken Place 2 Players On Waivers

The Seattle Kraken have made some late season demotions as the team has placed Cale Fleury and John Hayden on waivers.

As Fleury didn't play in the Kraken's last game and will likely end the season with 14 games, he is now eligible to become a UFA instead of an RFA again. He played 41 games for the Montreal Canadiens in 2019-20 at 21 years old, but has only played 36 total games for the Kraken over the last five years. His 14 games played this season was his highest. It is not surprising that he's likely being moved on from. Fleury needs a fresh start as well.

As for Hayden, the 30-year-old is a veteran of nine NHL seasons and has played 19 games for the Kraken this season, recording one goal and two points in a very limited fourth line role. This is the role he has played in the NHL for the past number of years and his 19 games is the most in a season since 2021-22 with the Buffalo Sabres.

Hayden is realistically an AHL player and where he will likely spend the majority of the rest of his career. Fleury, while younger, still has a chance. We are unlikely to see either in a Kraken uniform next season.
