NHL Trade Rumors: Alex Ovechkin to Winnipeg Jets
Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals has been the subject of trade rumors in the recent weeks. Although leading his team in goals and points for over a decade in the regular season, the only player in NHL history to accomplish this feat, Ovechkin has been unable to lead his team to a Stanley Cup.
Ovechkin is turning 31 years old, an age at which most players decline. He's got an expensive cap hit at $9.5 million annually. Not only does Ovechkin have a history of struggling in the playoffs but he also struggles to score in Olympic tournaments against the best players.
Rob Vollman of ESPN speculates the Winnipeg Jets may be interested in acquiring Ovechkin to play with Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler. The Jets might offer the second overall pick, which is coveted in this year's entry draft.
Ovechkin has a limited no-trade clause, where he lists 10 acceptable trade destinations. Do you think the Winnipeg Jets should trade their 2nd overall pick, which will likely be Patrik Laine, for Alex Ovechkin?
